Our Citra-hopped IPA, Hi-5, was introduced in 2014 and now is part of Terrapin’s core year-round portfolio. After the release, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) granted Terrapin a trademark for the Hi-5 name. It was recently brought to our attention that a brewery in Washington state had a similarly named beer (with a trademark) that preceded Terrapin’s Hi-5.

One of Terrapin’s company values is “do the right thing always,” so when the Hi-5 trademark registration was canceled we decided not to oppose the decision and move our Citra-hopped IPA toward a new name: Up-Hi. We’ll be transitioning our packaging to Up-Hi as soon as packaging comes in late June.

Don’t worry, the beer can still be ordered by slapping hands!
