First Rye Pale is A Winner

2002

Terrapin introduced its first beer, the Rye Pale Ale in April at the Classic City Brewfest in Athens, GA. Six months later while only available on draft in Athens, Terrapin’s sole offering won the American Pale Ale Gold Medal at the 2002 Great American Beer Festival.

Monster Beer Tour Launched

2004

Georgia law changed, allowing beers over 6% ABV so Terrapin started the “Monster Beer Tour” – a high gravity beer series. Wake-n-Bake, one of the original Monster Beer Tours, is still in our yearly line up.

2007

Terrapin opened its brewery in Athens, GA with a 25 bbl brewhouse and 8 fermentations tanks.

2008

Terrapin’s Athens brewery opened for tours in February. The side project series was started at the time with Volume 1, Hop Shortage.

Terrapin’s Fermentation space doubled this year with eight new fermenters varying in size from 100-120 bbl.
